Gender Talk
''Gender Talk'' is a NEWA
bimonthly forum where invited native and expatriate guest speakers
submit papers, give talks and lead discussions on a wide spectrum
of gender and other related issues with approximately fifty
NEWA and other women organization members at luncheons sponsored
by the Network.
The guest speakers at these luncheons will be qualified individuals
selected from all walks of life, including academics, political
figures, experienced NGO activists, athletes, artists, and writers
of both gender and diverse cultural and national backgrounds.
Through this forum where invited speakers will share their wisdom
and experiences of working around gender issues, running an
NGO, or other relevant areas of public life, the women of NEWA
and other organizations will acquire more knowledge and be better
informed as they struggle to empower women at all levels of
the socioeconomic ladder.
This bimonthly forum will also serve as a unique opportunity
for women organizations to discuss and exchange information
about their individual practical activities. It will avail these
women organizations with an opportunity to share among themselves
the challenges they encountered and progress they made to periodically
sum up their collective experiences in order to consolidate
their gains and plan to overcome obstacles. As circumstances
permit, NEWA intends to publish the proceedings of these bilingual
discussion meetings for the benefit of the wider public and
for the purpose of raising general awareness on gender and other
related issues.
